Nyungwe Washing Station was built in 2006 and named after the nearby Nyungwe natural forest. RTC purchased the station in 2013, and operated the first time with a new model in the 2014 harvest. When RTC took over the ownership of the mill, 1,290 farmers were enrolled into our agronomy training program (ATP) and have since learned the best agricultural practices to enhance yields and quality. The past two years, Nyungwe Washing Station is focused on rejuvenation of the farms growing the coffee, and has already distributed over 250,000 coffee seedlings for free so that farmers are able to expand their farms and replace old trees. The coffee delivered to Nyungwe Washing Station thrives in a very conducive environment, growing at an altitude of 1800m+ with the abundant rainfall, all of which make it harder to find a better cup of coffee.
